This honor is bestowed among the elite within corporate America because the Edison Achievement Award winners' accomplishments serve as an industry-wide inspiration.

John S. Hendricks
2011 Edison Achievement Award Winner
As the Founder and Chairman of Discovery Communications, John Hendricks created the Discovery Channel in 1985 as the first cable network in the United States designed to provide high quality documentary programming enabling people to explore their world and satisfy their curiosity. Mr. Hendricks has been the driving force behind its dramatic growth to reach a current total of 180 countries and territories with more than 1.5 billion cumulative subscribers. Discovery’s stable of companies now encompasses more than 100 networks representing 27 entertainment brands, including OWN, TLC, Animal Planet, Science Channel and HD Theater. Mr. Hendricks has been honored with a Primetime Emmy Award and with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ highest honor, the Governors Award. Edison Awards’ Steering Committee members noted that like Edison did years ago, Hendricks invested personal assets as evidence of his belief in what his dream could become, resulting in a multitude of inspiring success stories.
Alan Mulally
2011 Edison Achievement Award Winner
Alan Mulally has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Ford since 2006. Prior to joining Ford he served as the Executive Vice President of the Boeing Company and President & CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Mr. Mulally serves on the President’s Export Council, which was formed in 2010 to advise U.S. President Obama on export enhancement and ways to encourage companies to increase exports and enter new markets. He previously served as co-chair of the Washington Competitiveness Council, and sat on the advisory boards of NASA, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a variety of other institutions. In selecting Mr. Mulally to receive the 2011 Edison Achievement Award, the Steering Committee members cited the boldness of vision and leadership he has brought to the Ford Motor Company. Mr. Mulally’s past industry and business awards include recognition as one of “The World’s Most Influential People” by TIME magazine in 2009, “Person of the Year” by Aviation Week magazine in 2006, and one of “The Best Leaders of 2005” by Business Week magazine.
