Q: Why should I nominate my product for an Edison Award?
A: The Edison Award brings a unique distinction to your product or service by recognizing all of the intellectual capital, research, planning, engineering, design, strategy and marketing that has gone into making your product or service a success. The Edison Award also recognizes the persistence and excellence that characterized Thomas Edison’s work. The prestige of winning the Edison Award can be a catalyst to propel your product/brand to even greater notoriety and bottom-line success.
Q: Who may make an Edison Award nomination?
A: Any individual, inventor, innovator, team or company involved in product or service innovation may make a nomination for any category of the Edison Award. Marketing professionals and agencies may make nominations on behalf of their innovative clients.
Q: What are the criteria for evaluating an Edison Award nomination?
A: The nominations for The Edison Award will be judged for their excellence in concept, value, delivery and impact. Read more about the criteria.
Q: How does the Edison Green Award differ from the Edison Best New Product Award?
A: The Edison Green Award recognizes an organization’s commitment to developing sustainable solutions and Green business models. The Edison Best New Product Award is focused on the product or service and the team responsible for its development, while the Edison Green Award is given to an organization as a whole.
Q: What do I have to do in order to make a nomination?
A: Once nominations are opened (September 1, 2011), complete a nomination form and submit it, along with the appropriate entry fee, before December 2, 2011. You will receive an acknowledgement when we receive your nomination.
Q: Are there any fees involved?
A: Yes, there is a one-time entry fee (see Nomination Form for details), which will be used to defray the expenses of the judging and administrative processes involved in awarding The Edison Awards. A portion of your nomination fee will be donated to the Edison Universe, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to educating and fostering future innovators in the K-12 and community college levels.
Q: What is the judging process, and who is involved?
A: The Edison Awards Steering Committee will review all nominations and develop a list of finalists within each of the Edison Best New Product Award categories and for the Edison Green Award. This list of finalists will then be submitted to a panel of more than 3,000 judges, comprised of senior business executives and academics from across the nation, who will cast their ballots for the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners.Read more about the process.
Q: When are the finalists announced, and how will I be notified?
A: The winners of the Edison Best New Product Awards and Edison Green Awards are kept strictly confidential and will be announced at the Edison Award Gala on April 26, 2012. All nominees, finalists and other interested parties are invited to attend the full day event including Meet the Innovators Forum, Product presentations and Edison Awards Ceremony.

A: If you win an Edison Award you have the freedom to publicize the great honor. We will provide a template press release or your can write your own. For an additional fee winners can leverage the Edison Award winning seal and participate in our customized marketing plan that includes product sampling, social media, product reviews, morning show pitches and national media outreach.
