EDISON GREEN AWARD
While the other Edison Awards™ categories were established to recognize and honor innovative new products and services, the Edison Green Award™ is designed to recognize efforts by an organization to reduce a participating community's carbon footprint, create Green Collar jobs through new innovation methods, and improve community health and self-sufficiency.
Nominees in the Edison Green Award category are asked to respond to a variety of point-based questions relating to their specific initiatives, which then help to determine the extent to which they meet the primary criteria.
The primary categories of the
Edison Green Award criteria include:
Organizational innovation reflects that the organization is internally focused on sustainability and creating a culture of green innovation. The organization has created an environment where sustainability is an important aspect of its operations and considered in high-level strategies.
Societal impact focuses on the organization's external effects and the steps taken to mitigate the negative impacts or increase the positive impacts. It reflects that the organization understands it has an impact on the surrounding environment and community.
